The post-Communist political landscape's instability hindered sustained centrally financed cultural visions, leaving contemporary culture dependent on individual passion. Despite challenges, the independent Albanian art scene thrived through self-organization and personal investment, fostering emerging artists who later gained international acclaim, turning artists into one of the country's notable exports.
